Webinar: Insights in Orthopaedic Additive Manufacturing & Wear Testing

On May 19th at 1:00 pm (Central Time), please join us for a webinar on the Orthopaedic topics “Wear Testing of Dual Mobility Total Hip Replacements Under Standard and Adverse Conditions” and “When DfAM isn’t The Only Answer in Orthopaedics,” presented by Precision ADM.

Wear Testing of Dual Mobility Total Hip Replacements Under Standard and Adverse Conditions

Dual mobility (DM) total hip replacements (THR) have theoretical advantages over traditional THRs including greater range of motion and a reduced risk of dislocation due to a constrained inner articulation and a large-diameter outer articulation.

The purpose of this work was to identify and describe some of the unique challenges that accompany wear testing of DM THRs.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Challenges and experience in performing gravimetric analysis of the polyethylene bearings
  • Facilitating adverse condition testing with custom setup
  • Suggestions for modifications to achieve reliable testing results

When DfAM Isn’t the Only Answer In Orthopaedics

With the increased adoption of 3D printing in the Orthopaedic Industry, a new form of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) has emerged called Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM). DfAM is crucial for improving manufacturability and reducing post processing in a production setting, but other techniques are sometimes required.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Challenges when a device has an engineered surface roughness or lattice structure that cannot be printed using standard laser parameters
  • How to overcome the challenge and optimize geometry printing
  • Getting the results required while maintaining part density and quality
